Susan Ryan has been photographing professionally for over 20 years. Based in Chicago, she has established herself as one of the city's top photojournalists in wedding photography. Noted for her artistry and poetic vision, she is celebrated for skillfully capturing storytelling moments while her subjects may not even be aware of the camera’s presence. She uses a variety of B&W and color films and is a fond of using natural light whenever possible. Being entrusted with capturing life events that unfold is an honor for Susan and she thoroughly enjoys her work. Her style is calm, professional, and unobtrusive.
Work is presented in beautifully crafted hand bound albums. You may choose from Leather or Paper books in varying sizes and colors or a new Magazine style album printed in Italy. Consultation sessions for final print presentation are included with all photography bookings. Also available are Parent Books, Image Boxes, Hand made Cards & Announcements and Online Web Posting of proofs.
Her work can be seen in the July/August 2004 issue of Bride's magazine and she is featured on the WeddingChannel.com. She has also been published in Pioneer Press Newspapers, Chicago Reader, Today's Chicago Woman, Modern Bride Chicago and Pride Magazine. Corporate clients include WTTW, AT&T, McDermott, Will & Emery, In Style Magazine, Rolling Stone, Claire's Boutique, Guinness Import Co., and Robert Mondavi Winery.
She lives in Chicago with her husband and two small children. In her Lincoln Square studio she specializes in B&W portraiture. Currently, she is working on a series documenting the changes that occur during a child's first year of life.
